One way for small or new manufacturers to increase the IQ of a smart-phone and tackle the major players head on is to join forces and come up with something new.

This is the approach taken by Garmin and Asus, who recently released two new collaborative efforts, the A50 sporting Android, and the M10 sporting Windows Mobile, offering an integrated navigation device in a smartphone.

As much a showcase of the two operating systems, the units also indicate the capability of a joint venture to reach a new market - every manufacturers dream. Let's take a look at the M10 to see if Garmin-Asus are on track to grab some smartphone market share.
